I have lived in midtown Manhattan for the past two years and if there’s one thing I hated about my old apartment, it’s the lighting in my room. Being on the third floor with your window directly facing the facade of another building was no fun. I could never adopt a plant because photosynthesis couldn't happen in my lightless bedroom. With that being said, moving to this new apartment on the 24th floor two blocks uptown was a dream came true. Since both my roommate Kenny and I are extremely claustrophobic people, having almost floor-to-ceiling windows in our new home is just ideal. Every morning we get woken up by the most welcoming east coast sunlight, deliriously happy.
In terms of interior décor, I went to Home Depot and found a giant grey shag rug for the empty area in front of my bed. Besides the sunlight this is my next favorite thing, so soft and comfy, brings out so much personality in my room. After throwing my little desk stand and back cushion on top, this area became my designated activity place. Every morning I set my desk mirror here and do my makeup, eat cereal, or check my emails. The rug is also my perfect nap place, or a temporary bed for any friends to crash for a night.
Finally, let’s talk about the shoes I’m wearing this particular morning. These badass ladies are the Alexandre Herchcovitch green flower boots by Melissa. My friend Angie gifted them to me on my 24th birthday. They are about the edgiest heels I own and taming them has not been easy so far. After searching for a proper outfit for almost two months, I finally settled on just a simple black long-sleeve top with a black pencil skirt. I also put a gold flash tattoo choker on my neck to spice things up. I do want to try a nude outfit with them in the future though, but as of now this seems just fine. It's like they say, you can never go wrong with black.
